How to remove Rust
Stainless steel is rust resistant, however it is not rust proof.
If the surface is damaged or exposed to chemicals such as Chlorine from swimming pools then surface rust can develop if the product is not cleaned or maintained.
The good news is that if you experience rust you can remove it and make new via a couple of simple cleaning techniques .
Option 1: Dampen the area concern with Vinegar, let sit for 10 – 15 minutes. Use warm water and a non abrasive sponge to scrub clean
Option 2: Apply a sprinkle of baking soda to the area of concern and lightly dampen with water , let sit for 10 minutes then scrub clean with soft dish cloth or sponge
Option 3 : Use stainless steel cleaner with hot water and a soft cloth or sponge to clean ,
Rinse well prior use.
Care instructions for silicone
How do I wash the silicone Lid?
Good news: The Utility lid is dishwasher safe utilising the top rack is recommended. You can also easily hand wash using natural cleaners such as hot water and lemon or hotwater and bi carb soda. Due to the small size of Utility lid components, it is recommended to wash these with a controlled and monitored approach such as handwashing.
Will the silicone stain
Joco silicone is a non-porous material so unlike plastic it will not absorb stains, odours or bacteria. If you do find a mark or an odour, this will just be on the surface. If general washing does not remove this, a paste formed using a mix of bicarbonate soda and water is well suited to removing any such blemish.
Alternatively you can place lid in near boiling water with some lemon and this will also clean the product.
How to remove odours?
Odours can typically be removed through general cleaning. However If the initial cleaning methods fail to remove a stubborn surface odour, you can simply place your silicone part on a tray in the convection oven at a temperature of 180 degrees celsius / 248 Fahrenheit, for 30 minutes – 60 minutes. This will remove the odour.
